Glass collection points
Glass collection is an important part of recycling. To drop off your glass bottles and other jars, you can go to the designated locations:
- in Russy: behind the war memorial, at the beginning of church street.
- in Sainte-Honorine des Pertes: near the town hall, in the large parking lot of La Vallée, on the road to Port-en-Bessin.
- Do not leave glasses next to the containers and if they are full, take them to another container.
- Remember to remove caps and lids before depositing your glass items. Glass is collected in mixed glass recycling bins; colored glass is not separated from clear glass.
- Do not leave waste around the containers.

Composting
SEROC funds, supports and assists with composting : every household in the area can access an individual or shared composting solution.
- Reserve your composter
300-litre wooden composter for €15 from SEROC. Weekly collection times are available, as well as occasional distribution events throughout the area.
Reducing waste
Household waste collected in black bins is sent to landfill. Some of it (45%) cannot currently be treated in any other way, but most of it (55%) is waste we can try not to produce, such as food waste, or waste that has been sorted incorrectly (sorting mistakes or unfamiliarity with the
sorting guidelines), or that could be put to better use (composting).
Reducing waste also means looking for alternatives to disposable and/or short-lived products. SEROC also helps reduce waste by offering cloth nappy loans, the purchase of composters, and an ever-growing range of resources to guide and support you in your efforts.
Green waste
Burning green waste (brush clearing, hedge trimmings, trees and shrubs, greenery) is prohibited.
In accordance with the prefectoral circular of August 31, 2006, concerning the disposal of green waste from private parks and gardens, burning green waste, consisting mainly of wood from brush clearing, hedge trimming, tree and shrub pruning, and grass clippings from lawns and flowers, is prohibited. Individuals must use the available means to dispose of this type of waste, such as taking it to a recycling center.
Once processed and used, they make good compost, which can be used as fertilizer in private gardens. Grass fires are a nuisance and annoyance to the neighborhood and increase pollution, especially during periods of high heat.
Please respect this prohibition for everyone's well-being.
Warning: offenders are liable to a fine.
